Having applied late to accommodation, they live in a shared, off-campus house in Whalley Range rather than the halls of residence. The chemistry Zawe Ashton and Charlotte Ritchie bring to it does a lot of the heavy lifting. It ran for 4 seasons (2011–2016), and the writing holds up across every one of them. Fresh Meat earns its laughs from character rather than situation, which is why it does not wear thin the way pure farce tends to. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.
