Joey says goodbye to a time when his friends were his family and welcomes the chance to turn his family into his friends. After reuniting with his high-strung sister Gina, a strong and sexy hairdresser, Joey moves in with her genius 20-year-old son, graduate student Michael, who literally is a rocket scientist. Matt LeBlanc and Drea de Matteo lead a cast with the timing to make it work. The series ran for 2 seasons (2004–2006), building a story that gave its audience time to invest properly. What keeps Joey from feeling disposable is a cast that clearly understands the material better than the format usually demands. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.
