The series centers on the unbreakable bond the twins share though they have wildly different personalities. To complicate their teenage lives, both parents work at their high school and their younger brothers are always stirring up trouble. Dove Cameron and Joey Bragg lead a cast that never overplays a joke. 4 seasons (2013–2017) gave the story room most shows never get. The timing in Liv and Maddie is precise enough that even the throwaway lines land on a second watch. It rarely drops the ball, and when it does, it recovers fast.

Liv and Maddie is the kind of thing you put on in the background and end up fully watching. Viewers who responded to Sister, Sister will find a lot to like here too.
