The world-building is meticulous, but it's the characters who carry Red Data Girl through the more ambitious episodes. Izumiko Suzuhara (15) was born and raised at Tamakura Shrine, and always destroys any electrical device she touches. She decides to try living in the city, and enrolls in Houjou High School in Tokyo. With her are her guardians son and Izumiko's childhood friend Miyuki Sagara. Saori Hayami and Koki Uchiyama lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It aired in 2013.
Satisfying on multiple levels — something to enjoy on screen and something to think about after.
