Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is currently streaming in Australia on Netflix and Foxtel Now, and in the US on Netflix, and it earns its premise rather than just borrowing genre trappings. 2 seasons means there is plenty to get through without ever feeling padded. An 8/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Frank Welker's performance is the anchor the more ambitious scenes need. Start it on Netflix whenever you need something guaranteed to land.
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is not trying to be everything to everyone, and that focus is exactly what makes it work. What makes Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated work is that the ideas never crowd out the people having them. This incarnation of the popular cartoon series finds Scooby and the gang living in Crystal Cove, a small town with a long history of ghost sightings, monster tales and other mysteries ripe for the sleuths to solve once and for all. But the longstanding Crystal Cove residents, who bank on the town's reputation to attract tourists, are prepared to do what it takes to protect their turf. Frank Welker and Grey DeLisle lead a cast that never lets the concept overwhelm the characters. Across 2 seasons (2010–2013), it never lost the thread that made it worth starting. The world-building is meticulous enough to sustain multiple rewatches, with details early on that only make sense later. The hit rate here is high enough that skipping ahead never feels like an option.
For late-night viewing or a proper weekend binge, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated fits the bill. The tonal similarities to Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? Are real, though Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated carves out its own identity quickly. Short enough to finish in a weekend, substantial enough to feel satisfying. Frank Welker anchors it with a performance that makes the more abstract moments feel personal. If you have been burned by ambitious sci-fi before, this is the exception.
