If you want science fiction that respects its own premise, Ultraman Ace is available in the US on Amazon Prime Video and Fawesome right now. The show says what it needs to say in a single season, no filler. Its 8/10 TMDB score, built from 24 ratings, reflects a title that consistently delivers. Watch it for Keiji Takamine — the performance elevates material that could easily tip into self-seriousness. Put it on tonight on Amazon Prime Video and see for yourself.
Ultraman Ace is not trying to be everything to everyone, and that focus is exactly what makes it work. What makes Ultraman Ace work is that the ideas never crowd out the people having them. Yapool, an ancient interdimensional race of beings tries to conquer the Planet Earth with his army of monsters, called Terrible-Monsters. The newest member of the Ultra Brothers, Ultraman Ace, arrives on Earth to aid humanity in the battle against Yapool. Touched by the sacrifices of Seiji Hokuto and Yuko Minami, he revives them and grants them the Ultra Rings, which allows them to transform into Ultraman Ace in times of need. The human element stays intact thanks to Keiji Takamine and Gorō Naya, who anchor every scene. It first aired in 1972–1973. The world-building is meticulous enough to sustain multiple rewatches, with details early on that only make sense later. The consistency throughout is what elevates it — not every moment is the best, but none of them are a reason to stop watching.
Ultraman Ace is satisfying on multiple levels — something to watch and something to think about after. Ultraseven is the obvious comparison, but Ultraman Ace earns its own place alongside it. Short enough to finish in a weekend, substantial enough to feel satisfying. Keiji Takamine anchors it with a performance that makes the more abstract moments feel personal. If you have been burned by ambitious sci-fi before, this is the exception.
