Japanese television has a knack for doing more with less, and Myriad Colors Phantom World is a prime example. It's currently available in Australia on Crunchyroll and Crunchyroll Amazon Channel, and in the US on Crunchyroll and Crunchyroll Amazon Channel, so there's no reason to keep putting it off. An 8/10 rating means the audience agrees.
Originally commissioned by Tokyo MX, Myriad Colors Phantom World quickly became exactly the kind of show that viewers rearrange their evenings for. In the near future, in a world born of human imagination, what humans would call ghosts or monsters appear, and they come to be called "phantoms." Haruhiko Ichijō, is a first year at Hosea Academy along with his upperclassman Mai Kawakami, who fights phantoms with the ability "Spirit of Five Elements," Reina Izumi, who has the ability "Phantom Eater," and Koito Minase, who fights phantoms in solitude. They experience the ups and downs of high school life before a certain incident leads them to the truth of this world. It aired in 2016.
Ideal for when you want something light without wanting something stupid. Myriad Colors Phantom World respects its audience — rarer than it should be.
