Korean television has a knack for doing more with less, and Racket Boys is a prime example. It's currently available in Australia on Netflix and Netflix Standard with Ads, and in the US on Netflix and Netflix Standard with Ads, so there's no reason to keep putting it off. An 8/10 rating means the audience agrees.
Part of the current wave of streaming-era originals, Racket Boys follows a path that stands out in a crowded field. A city kid is brought to the countryside by his father's new coaching gig: reviving a ragtag middle school badminton team on the brink of extinction. Tang Joon-sang and Son Sang-yeon lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It aired in 2021.
Ideal for when you want something light without wanting something stupid. Racket Boys respects its audience β rarer than it should be.
