Wrath of the Titans has built a real following in the US on Peacock Premium and YouTube TV, and in the UK on HBO Max Amazon Channel and Sky Go among viewers who want their sci-fi to think as hard as it looks. A tight runtime that never overstays its welcome. With 4,574 viewer ratings on TMDB, this is not a title flying under the radar. Sam Worthington sets the tone, and the world-building does the rest. There is no real reason to keep putting it off β it is right there on Peacock Premium.
Whatever else is competing for your attention this week, Wrath of the Titans is worth clearing space for. What makes Wrath of the Titans work is that the ideas never crowd out the people having them. Perseus tries to live a quieter life as a village fisherman while β dangerously weakened by humanity's lack of devotion β the gods are losing control of the long-imprisoned Titans and their ferocious leader, Kronos. The human element stays intact thanks to Sam Worthington and Liam Neeson, who anchor every scene. Wrath of the Titans came out in 2012. What separates Wrath of the Titans from lesser genre entertainment is a willingness to let the concept cost the characters something. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.
For late-night viewing or a proper weekend binge, Wrath of the Titans fits the bill. It stands on its own even without an obvious comparison point. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. Sam Worthington anchors it with a performance that makes the more abstract moments feel personal. If you have been burned by ambitious sci-fi before, this is the exception.
