Where to Watch Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon in Canada

Japanese television has a knack for doing more with less, and Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is a prime example. It's currently available in Australia on Crunchyroll Amazon Channel, and in the US on Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, so there's no reason to keep putting it off. An 8/10 rating means the audience agrees.

Part of the current wave of streaming-era originals, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon follows a path that stands out in a crowded field. In feudal Japan, half-demon twins Towa and Setsuna are separated from each other during a forest fire. While desperately searching for her younger sister, Towa wanders into a mysterious tunnel that sends her into present-day Japan, where she is found and raised by Kagome Higurashi’s brother, Sota, and his family. Ten years later, the tunnel that connects the two eras has reopened, allowing Towa to be reunited with Setsuna, who is now a demon slayer working for Kohaku. Yoshimasa Hosoya and Fairouz Ai lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It aired in 2020–2022.

Genuinely enjoyable for a wide range of viewers. The animation is the delivery mechanism — the storytelling is what matters.
