Anaconda has quietly become one of the more dependable comedies currently available in Australia on Amazon Prime Video, and in the US on Netflix. It says what it needs to say in one sitting, no filler. Its 6/10 TMDB score, built from 1,276 ratings, reflects a title that consistently delivers. Jack Black's performance alone is worth the time investment. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on Amazon Prime Video.

Anaconda arrived without much fanfare and built its audience the hard way — through word of mouth. Anaconda gets the fundamentals right first, then finds room to get weird with it. A group of friends facing mid-life crises head to the rainforest with the intention of remaking their favorite movie from their youth, only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes and violent criminals. Jack Black and Paul Rudd lead a cast with the timing to make it work. It hit screens in 2025. The real test of any comedy is whether it is still funny once you know all the jokes, and Anaconda holds up on rewatch in a way that separates it from one-off curiosities. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

Anaconda is the kind of thing you put on in the background and end up fully watching. It stands on its own even without an obvious comparison point.
