Boomerang is currently streaming in Australia on BINGE and Foxtel Now, and in the US on fuboTV and Paramount Plus Premium, and it delivers exactly the kind of comedy that earns a loyal following. It says what it needs to say in one sitting, no filler. A 6/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Eddie Murphy is the obvious draw, but the whole ensemble earns its laughs. Available now on BINGE — press play and find out why people keep recommending it.
Part of the current wave of titles people are actually watching, Boomerang earns its spot. Boomerang gets the fundamentals right first, then finds room to get weird with it. Marcus is a successful advertising executive who woos and beds women almost at will. After a company merger he finds that his new boss, the ravishing Jacqueline, is treating him in exactly the same way. Completely traumatised by this, his work goes badly downhill. Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 1992. Boomerang earns its laughs from character rather than situation, which is why it does not wear thin the way pure farce tends to. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.
Boomerang is the kind of thing you put on in the background and end up fully watching. It has built its own audience without needing a direct comparison. The complete film is available and best experienced without too much prior knowledge of where it goes. Eddie Murphy anchors an ensemble with real chemistry. Genuinely funny, consistently, across the whole run.
