Jonathan begins an affair with a woman known only as S, who introduces Jonathan to a world of treachery and murder. Ewan McGregor and Hugh Jackman lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 2008. The plot mechanics of Deception never overwhelm the human cost underneath them. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.
