Extinct has quietly become one of the more dependable comedies currently available in Australia on Netflix, and in the US on Netflix. The runtime earns every minute, with nothing here that feels like padding. 189 viewers have already rated it on TMDB — the kind of consensus that does not happen by accident. Adam Devine leads a cast with real comic timing. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on Netflix.

There is a reason Extinct keeps coming up in conversation. Extinct does what great comedies rarely manage — it is actually funny, consistently, across the whole run. Op and Ed, two adorable donut-shaped animals - flummels - accidentally time-travel from 1835 to modern-day Shanghai. There they discover traffic, trans fats, and worst of all, that flummels are now extinct. It's up to this bumbling pair to save themselves and their species...and, just maybe, change the course of history. Adam Devine and Rachel Bloom lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 2021. The timing in Extinct is precise enough that even the throwaway lines land on a second watch. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.

If you need a comedy that actually makes you laugh, Extinct is a strong candidate. It rewards viewers regardless of what else is in their watch history. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. Adam Devine's comic timing carries it through its weaker moments.
