They search for evidence of paranormal activity as they shoot what ends up becoming their final episode. Sean Rogerson and Ashleigh Gryzko lead a cast that never lets the mystery feel thin. Grave Encounters came out in 2011. Grave Encounters is at its best in the quiet scenes between the plot beats, where the character work actually happens. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

If you cannot walk away from a good mystery, Grave Encounters will keep you hooked. It stands on its own even without an obvious comparison point. It is a manageable watch, easy to fit into a single evening. Sean Rogerson carries scenes that would sink a lesser production.
