Nosferatu

Nosferatu has built a real following in Australia on Netflix and BINGE, and in the US on Peacock Premium among viewers who want their sci-fi to think as hard as it looks. It says what it needs to say in one sitting, no filler. A 7/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Lily-Rose Depp sets the tone, and the world-building does the rest. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on Netflix.

Nosferatu is not trying to be everything to everyone, and that focus is exactly what makes it work. What makes Nosferatu work is that the ideas never crowd out the people having them. A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake. Lily-Rose Depp and Nicholas Hoult lead a cast that makes the ambitious moments land. It was released in 2024. Nosferatu resists the temptation to explain everything, trusting the audience to sit with ambiguity. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.

Nosferatu is satisfying on multiple levels — something to watch and something to think about after. It rewards viewers regardless of what else is in their watch history.
