Two doctors find their graveyard shift inundated with townspeople ravaged by sores. Among the wounded is Cherry Darling, a dancer whose leg was ripped from her body. As the invalids quickly become enraged aggressors, Cherry and her ex-boyfriend El Wray lead a team of accidental warriors into the night. Rose McGowan and Freddy Rodríguez lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 2007. Planet Terror is at its best in the quiet scenes between the plot beats, where the character work actually happens. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

If you cannot walk away from a good mystery, Planet Terror will keep you hooked. It does not lean on comparisons to make its case. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work.
