Striptease has quietly become one of the more dependable comedies currently available on Crave and Starz Amazon Channel. It says what it needs to say in one sitting, no filler. Part of the current wave of titles people are actually watching, Striptease earns its spot. Striptease does what great comedies rarely manage — it is actually funny, consistently, across the whole run. Bounced from her job, Erin Grant needs money if she's to have any chance of winning back custody of her child. But, eventually, she must confront the naked truth: to take on the system, she'll have to take it all off. Erin strips to conquer, but she faces unintended circumstances when a hound dog of a Congressman zeroes in on her and sharpens the shady tools at his fingertips, including blackmail and murder. Demi Moore and Burt Reynolds lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 1996. What keeps Striptease from feeling disposable is a cast that clearly understands the material better than the format usually demands. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.

Striptease is the kind of thing you put on in the background and end up fully watching. It rewards viewers regardless of what else is in their watch history. It is a manageable watch, easy to fit into a single evening. Demi Moore's comic timing carries it through its weaker moments. The kind of comedy you recommend to someone who claims they do not watch much.
