Right now you can watch Tarzan in Australia on Disney Plus, and in the US on Disney Plus and fuboTV — and the writing holds up regardless of the format's reputation. A tight runtime that never overstays its welcome. A 7/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Tony Goldwyn's voice work is a big part of what makes it distinctive. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on Disney Plus.

Part of the current wave of titles people are actually watching, Tarzan earns its spot. Visually distinctive and narratively ambitious, Tarzan operates well above the genre average. Tarzan was a small orphan who was raised by an ape named Kala since he was a child. He believed that this was his family, but on an expedition Jane Porter is rescued by Tarzan. He then finds out that he's human. Tony Goldwyn and Minnie Driver bring voice work that does more than the format usually asks for. It hit screens in 1999. The visual gags in Tarzan reward close attention without ever depending on it. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

Genuinely enjoyable for a wide range of viewers, Tarzan treats animation as a delivery mechanism, not a limitation. It rewards viewers regardless of what else is in their watch history. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. The writing operates at a level the format's reputation does not fully prepare you for. Adult animation that actually works for adults.
