Whatever else is competing for your attention this week, Teeth is worth clearing space for. Teeth gets the fundamentals right first, then finds room to get weird with it. Dawn is an active member of her high-school chastity club but, when she meets Tobey, nature takes its course, and the pair answer the call. They suddenly learn she is a living example of the vagina dentata myth, when the encounter takes a grisly turn. Jess Weixler and John Hensley lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 2008. What keeps Teeth from feeling disposable is a cast that clearly understands the material better than the format usually demands. It delivers reliably on what it promises, which is more than most of its competition manages.

Comedy fans looking for a reliably funny watch will find it in Teeth. It rewards viewers regardless of what else is in their watch history. Short enough to finish in one sitting, substantial enough to feel satisfying. Jess Weixler's comic timing carries it through its weaker moments.
