Upon arrival, Wilson goes to task battling Valentine and an army of L.A.'s toughest criminals, hoping to find clues and piece together what happened. After surviving a near-death beating, getting thrown from a building and being chased down a dangerous mountain road, the Englishman decides to dole out some bodily harm of his own. Terence Stamp and Lesley Ann Warren lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 1999. What distinguishes the best crime dramas from the rest is whether the character work can carry scenes where the mystery takes a breath — The Limey passes that test consistently. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.
