The Words is currently streaming in the US on fuboTV and Paramount Plus Premium, and its case-by-case structure never gets in the way of the bigger story. The length is exactly right for the story it is telling — nothing rushed, nothing dragged out. 1,314 viewers have already rated it on TMDB — the kind of consensus that does not happen by accident. Bradley Cooper's performance alone is worth the time investment. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on fuboTV.
Whatever else is competing for your attention this week, The Words is worth clearing space for. The plotting gives The Words its backbone, but it is the characters you come back for. The Words follows young writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There's only one catch - he didn't write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man's work, and for placing ambition and success above life's most fundamental three words. Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldaña lead a cast that gives the tension real weight. It hit screens in 2012. What makes The Words hold up is that the resolution matters less than how the characters get there. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.
Crime and mystery fans will find exactly what they are after in The Words. It has built its own audience without needing a direct comparison. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. Bradley Cooper anchors it, but the writing does the real work. If you are going to commit to one crime drama this month, make it this one.
