As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man's work, and for placing ambition and success above life's most fundamental three words. Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldaña lead a cast that gives the tension real weight. It hit screens in 2012. What makes The Words hold up is that the resolution matters less than how the characters get there. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

Crime and mystery fans will find exactly what they are after in The Words. It has built its own audience without needing a direct comparison. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. Bradley Cooper anchors it, but the writing does the real work. If you are going to commit to one crime drama this month, make it this one.
