If you want a crime drama that treats its mystery as more than a puzzle, Vanquish is available in Australia on Amazon Prime Video, and in the US on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube TV right now. It says what it needs to say in one sitting, no filler. A 5/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Ruby Rose's performance alone is worth the time investment. There is no real reason to keep putting it off — it is right there on Amazon Prime Video.

Vanquish is not trying to be everything to everyone, and that focus is exactly what makes it work. Vanquish treats its mystery as a means, not an end in itself. Victoria is a young mother trying to put her dark past as a Russian drug courier behind her, but retired cop Damon forces Victoria to do his bidding by holding her daughter hostage. Now, Victoria must use guns, guts and a motorcycle to take out a series of violent gangsters—or she may never see her child again. Ruby Rose and Morgan Freeman lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was released in 2021. The plot mechanics of Vanquish never overwhelm the human cost underneath them. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.

If you cannot walk away from a good mystery, Vanquish will keep you hooked. It does not lean on comparisons to make its case. Short enough to finish in one sitting, substantial enough to feel satisfying. Watch Ruby Rose work — it is a masterclass in the genre. Few crime dramas earn their twists this consistently.
