Aashram Season 1 has quietly become one of the more dependable crime dramas currently available. A single, tightly-focused season means there is plenty to get through without ever feeling padded. A 5/10 rating says what the writing already makes obvious: this one works. Bobby Deol anchors it, but the writing does the real work. There is no real reason to keep putting it off.

Bobby Deol plays the role of a Guru, known by the name of Baba Nirala, who is known to do magic, who has the solution to every problem of mankind and who has the knowledge of every missing woman of the area. Bobby Deol and Chandan Roy Sanyal lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was aired in 2020. What distinguishes the best crime dramas from the rest is whether the character work can carry scenes where the mystery takes a breath — Aashram Season 1 passes that test consistently. There is real craft here, even in the moments that do not fully land.

If you cannot walk away from a good mystery, Aashram Season 1 will keep you hooked. It stands on its own even without an obvious comparison point. Best experienced as a single, sustained watch if your schedule allows. Bobby Deol carries scenes that would sink a lesser production. The resolution feels inevitable rather than arbitrary, which is rarer than it sounds.
