If you are after a comedy that actually makes you laugh out loud, Legal High Season 1 is available on streaming right now. The 1-season run is exactly the right length for what it is doing. Its 8/10 TMDB score, built from 96 ratings, reflects a title that consistently delivers. Masato Sakai is the obvious draw, but the whole ensemble earns its laughs. There is no real reason to keep putting it off.
Whatever else is competing for your attention this week, Legal High Season 1 is worth clearing space for. Legal High Season 1 gets the fundamentals right first, then finds room to get weird with it. Of all the law related dramas inside and outside of the country, a majority of lawyers are depicted as heroes, either bringing tears to your eyes helping the weak underdog, or trying to advocate justice to the extreme. This has led the general public to view lawyers with eyes of respect and envy. However, the main character of "Legal High!!" stands miles away from that stereotypical identity of a lawyer. Masato Sakai and Yui Aragaki lead a cast that brings real weight to the material. It was aired in 2012. Legal High Season 1 earns its laughs from character rather than situation, which is why it does not wear thin the way pure farce tends to. It rarely drops the ball, and when it does, it recovers fast.
If you need a comedy that actually makes you laugh, Legal High Season 1 is a strong candidate. It does not lean on comparisons to make its case. The complete run is available and best experienced without too much prior knowledge of where it goes. Masato Sakai's comic timing carries it through its weaker moments. The kind of comedy you recommend to someone who claims they do not watch much.
