A police officer who while responding to a violent hostage call, kills the African American suspect only to later learn of his innocence. Sensing this was a set-up, and facing repercussions, he must track down the person responsible while examining his own accountability and the ingrained racism which brought him to this point. Credit to Brian Geraghty and Sharon Leal for grounding it — this is a cast that earns the twists. It was released in 2020. Blindfire is at its best in the quiet scenes between the plot beats, where the character work actually happens. It knows exactly what it is, and does not try to be anything else.

Viewers who think they have seen every crime drama tend to find Blindfire proves them wrong. If you have run out of similar titles to watch, this is a strong next pick. A contained runtime means every scene is doing real work. Brian Geraghty's performance is the kind that shows up on best-of lists years later.
